There are some forum posts on controlling the OSD via telnet, but the control is limited.
3  Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - I need help! / Re: Firmware file not available from official support menu on: January 27, 2014, 08:10:10 pm
I'm going to look into a hosting site for the firmware later tonight...  I have 3.33-1.77 and 3.33-2.09 locally for upload.

There is an issue with the USB chip in the OSD, and it's not recommended to use USB for recording.  As for the capacity, there's either something wrong with your 8GB USB drive, or it's formatted in a way the OSD doesn't recognize. (probably NTFS or ExFAT)
4  Neuros LINK / Neuros LINK - I need help! / Re: FIRMWARE VERSION 1.2.1 DOWNLOAD LINKS NOT WORKING on: December 30, 2013, 12:55:14 am
The downloads server is offline for the indefinite future.

It's just Ubuntu Stable with drivers pre-configured.  Nothing fancy.
5  Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - I need help! / Re: Help Please: Can't access firmware updates! on: November 24, 2013, 06:29:10 pm
open.neurostechnology.com is gone.

You need to perform the emergency upgrade to 3.33-1.77, which does not require the CF card, then perform a normal upgrade to 3.33-2.09.

If you e-mail support I can send them back as attachments (12MB and 20MB, respectively).
6  Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - Tips, Tricks, and Hacks / Re: Looking for a particular file in the OSD firmware... on: August 29, 2013, 10:32:17 pm
I'm still banging my head on the wall over American cookbooks due to the use of volume measurements for things you should weigh (I mean, what's with "cups" of flour? tell me it in grams) and weight measurements of liquids (ounces of water? are you kidding me?).

That's not weight.  Wink

A Fluid Ounce is a volume measurement, equal to 1/128th of a US Gallon.

Down + Play forces the unit to power off, even if locked up.
8  Neuros LINK / Neuros LINK - Feedback and Discussion / Re: Replacing the PSU on: August 29, 2013, 08:44:19 pm
The PSU is not riveted in anywhere, I've had mine out to check part numbers...

I think there's a "hidden" screw on the side to augment the ones that come in from the rear, maybe?
9  Neuros Digital Audio Computer / Neuros Digital Audio Computer - Feedback & Discussion / Re: Last manufactured on: June 02, 2013, 01:02:39 am
June 2005 was the last production run.

I don't recall Neuros ever offering HDDs larger than 80GB.
10  Neuros Digital Audio Computer / Neuros Digital Audio Computer - Feedback & Discussion / Re: Albums listed by Artist on: June 02, 2013, 12:58:20 am
I'm familiar with the Album Artist tag, but I'm not sure if NeurosDBM can be configured to use it or not...
11  Neuros LINK / Neuros LINK - I need help! / Re: Link fried via USB port (?) on: June 02, 2013, 12:57:11 am
1) Most likely.  Not really sure what you connected wrong, but that certainly sounds like a toast power supply or motherboard.
2) I certainly wouldn't go looking to inhale it, but move the unit to somewhere well ventilated for a while and you should be fine.
12  Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - I need help! / Re: Completely dead remote on: December 03, 2012, 07:33:25 am
As far as I know the database is mostly available for all models...  I know my Harmony One can download the OSD settings.  It's really very nice, since it automates so much of what you need to do (you tell it what device controls volume, what needs turned on in what order, etc.).
13  Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - I need help! / Re: Completely dead remote on: December 02, 2012, 08:50:11 am
The OSD is in the Logitech Harmony database, but I'm not sure if an $80 remote is worth it for most people.  (Though, they do control a whole entertainment center, so that might work for you.)

Alternately, you can *try* Sony VCR codes on a regular universal remote, and it usually works for some of the functionality.

it makes sense to be able to say that it (the file) is "just over" 3 Gb.  (Even though that statement is, technically, untrue...)

I handle that by saying "it's about 3gb", and I would work out the size in MiB/KiB/bytes if it came to actually mattering that much; 99% of the time the only comparisons I have are will this stuff fit on a DVD-R (<=4488MiB) or do I have enough space on this SD card for the next episode of Joshiraku?...

I have "ll" aliased to "ls -lh --color" on most of my systems.  No conversion necessary.  Smiley
