1  Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - I need help! / Re: No Video Output from OSD on: April 21, 2008, 07:28:54 am
No LED status light, and I have not tried to Telnet in, but I am not hopeful.  No pass through either, sounds like it's dead.
2  Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - I need help! / No Video Output from OSD on: April 19, 2008, 10:29:21 am
Ok, so my apartment was struck by lightning not too long ago and it fried a bunch of my stuff.  Since then my OSD does not seem to work.  When I plug it in, the two Ethernet lights turn on in the back, but I get no output to the television.  I tried switching back and forth from NTSC/PAL and trying to turn it off and on, then unplugging it, etc.

Before I send it in for repairs, I would like to know if anyone has any ideas on why it would not display video (other than it's broken).  My OSD firmware is like 1.33.___, and I was going to upgrade to 1.33.175 in order to make the switch to Arizona.  I have not had any firmware troubles, and this did not come after an attempted update, it just would not turn on one day.

Any suggestions would be great before I send it in.

Thanks,
Derek

4  Neuros OSD / Neuros OSD - I need help! / OSD says "no storage found" when recording to Network??? on: September 16, 2007, 12:00:20 am
I have the OSD wired into my computer and I have my computer sharing a folder with the OSD.  The OSD finds the folder fine, and it will play things off of it as well, but when i hit record it says "no storage found".  In windows i have enabled "allow network users to change my files" thinking that this would allow my OSD to write to PC, but it does not help.

OSD does everything else from the network share great, it just refuses to record to it.

Any help would be great.

7  Neuros Digital Audio Computer / Neuros Digital Audio Computer - I need help! / Re: neuros 2 for line in recording on: August 22, 2006, 10:13:10 pm
1) If you would like something now, you should buy it.  The Neuros III will not be out for a while... Q4 2007?
2) I have used the neuros to record many times. to boot the unit and then start recording it would take about 10 seconds total.  About 5 for booting and 5 to initialize recording.  I do not really see a problem with this, as I always start it early and edit the file later.  You can tell when it starts recording so not a big deal.
3)NDBM supports mac. you can get it here: http://neurosdbm.sourceforge.net/  It is not that technical to use, most people use it instead of the official software.

I have been happy with mine as far as recording.  The interface could use a little refinement, but similar recorders in musicians magezines cost 300-400 dollars and usually do not have a hard drive.

9  Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder / Neuros MPEG4 Recorder - I need help! / R2 Portable Battery Pack on: August 08, 2006, 09:33:52 pm
Wow, this is my 500th post...I feel old.

Thanks to Ex-Navy, my new website now has a tutorial on how to make your R2 a portable unit using a battery pack. And while your there, look around the site a little, give me feedback, and upload your project for the project of the month.  It does not have to be complicated, just interesting.

10  Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder / Neuros MPEG4 Recorder - Feedback & Discussion / Re: Is the Recorder compatible with..... on: August 08, 2006, 09:29:03 pm
The Creative Zen Vision M supports the following video files:

DivX™ 4 & 55, XviD5, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG4-SP, WMV9, Motion-JPEG

The recorder 2 records MPEG4-SP with AAC.  So the video works fine, I am not sure if the Zen supports AAC audio.

according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MPEG-4 the AAC audio is a spec. on MPEG-4. So if the Zen says it plays MPEG-4 it should play this.

You might want to call creative on that one though.  Can anyone else shine any further light on this?

yes, your phone plays video files that are .3gp  The recorder 2 has two settings that are .3gp, they are 320x240 - 3gp and 176x144 - 3gp.

No, not at the moment.  Sorry I answered your question incorrectly.

13  Neuros Digital Audio Computer / Neuros Digital Audio Computer - I need help! / Re: Problems with charging and the AC plug on: August 03, 2006, 11:12:27 pm
It is probably a loose solder joint as you expected.  Take it apart and look at the board where the AC plug is connected, does the solder joint look ok?  Is it loose?  If it is, and you have some soldering skills, just repair the joint, this is fairly easy to do.

If this is not the case, your plug could be bad, in which case you would need to send it in for repairs.

email me if you have any questions

All hard drives have some shock protection, the level depends on what brand it is.  I would NEVER recommend dropping a hard drive.  No hard drive that I know of can sense when it's being dropped (that would be very hard to implement).  Although, most hard drives will shut down after being jolted as a safety measure.
