Actually I do have the OSDng menu. (The firmware portion worked.) It is when doing the setup from there, that I am having failure.
After trying to do setup ~20 times today, it seems to be a timeout error to the server. It hangs at various percentages, (15-50). Is there a server timeout that could be lengthened or a way to get the files and do this manually?
I had the same experiences you did. That is, the "setup" part craps out in a variety of ways, all of which are at the root timeouts (the dots stop moving). However, I assumed it was caused by the USB port not working.
Now, aside here. I've never been able to record to USB and I've always just basically assumed that the USB ports don't work on the OSD hardware - that the USB port is just there on the unit for decoration. This has never been that big of a concern to me, because I always record to the network, and never really had a need for recording to USB. Also, recording to SD (and SDHC) works fine, should I ever have the need to record "locally".
However, I've been told that some people actually have been able to record to USB, but I've never really been able to confirm these rumors. In any case, as I've said, none of this mattered to me until I got interested in OSDng. Here, it seems USB is essential. Am I correct that it is absolutely necessary to have a working USB port for this to work? I.e., neither the network nor the SD slot can be used (I, of course, have no CF slot on my units).
Assuming the above to be correct, I need to look into having my unit(s) replaced, since the USB ports don't work.
