will the LINK play DVDs with the addition of an internal or ext DVD drive (blu rays?) will the LINK do everything the OSD does now? but render a better resolution the current OSD recording quality is VHS quality at best. will the link still access locally stored video and play in 1080p? can the LINK record video input from a HD source and maintain its same resolution? can this be stored on an internal HDD installed in the LINK?

Thanks Longtime customer of Neuros, MP3 jukebox, OSD and interested in the LINK, TJ

Ubuntu is the basis of the Link, so if you can get Ubuntu to play DVD and Blu-Ray, then you can get the Link to as well.

The Link does not do recording at all, it is a playback-only device.  It is based on an AMD x86_64 base, so if you end up not liking the Neuros firmware for some reason, you can install a different flavor of Linux on the unit.

There are internal SATA hookups for adding slimline DVD and internal 3.5" HDD units.

there are workarounds for playing blu-ray movies in Ubuntu. It's a limitation of DRM, not hardware or software. Ubuntu and the LINK could both easily handle it if the powers that be allowed it. The workaround itself looks like way too much of a hassle to be worth it.
